India is set to complete one month of the nationwide lockdown that started on March 25. The global Covid-19 death toll has meanwhile crossed 1,90,000. The United States on Wednesday recorded 1,738 deaths but it has nearly doubled today.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump continues to push for reopening the economy after it came to standstill with the coronavirus crisis. More than 95 percent of US’s 330 million people are under stay-at-home orders as a result of the social distancing measures enforced till May 1. With coronavirus shutting down the economy, more than 26 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits and the figure is soon likely to cross 40 million, as per some estimates.
