Covid-19: How to use the fact-checking chatbot in Hindi on WhatsApp


Last month, International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) launched its official chatbot on WhatsApp to curb the spread of fake information and myths related to Covid-19. The main aim of the chatbot is to supply the relevant and correct information about the pandemic. IFCN has now announced Hindi support for the service and users can interact with the bot in Hindi, English and Spanish.

IFCN has partnered with several fact checking agencies to provide information in Hindi. Currently, the service has around 250 fact-checks and more will be added soon.

IFCN says, using the service is pretty simple, users just need to type ‘Namaste’ in Hindi and send it to the chatbot number using WhatsApp. There’s also a web link that directly redirects users to the Hindi Version of the chatbot. Read along to know more.

Now, head to WhatsApp, start a new chat, search the saved contact and tap on it

Type ‘Namaste’ in Hindi and send, you will start receiving the replies in Hindi automatically.

Now, if the default language of the chatbot is already set to English or Spanish, then send a ‘Hi’ and then reply with ‘7’ to change the language.

Now, select the language by replying the name of the language. In this case, just type ‘Hindi’ and send.
